Don't Flush Trouble

We feel as though we are always preaching about this one, but it seems to be the biggest problem we see. Don’t flush trouble.

A septic tank is designed to treat wastewater and toilet paper only. Your septic tank contains living organisms that digest and treat the waste. What you choose to flush down the toilet greatly affects the septic tank’s ability to do its job.

DON’T FLUSH TROUBLE

Do not flush anything that can be easily put into the trash. Your septic tank is not designed to be a garbage can. The extracurricular items that enter the tank will either reduce the retention time of the tank, flush into your secondary treatment area, or damage any mechanical parts you may have. The more items that go into the tank, the more often the tank needs to be pumped and the higher risk you have of problems occurring.
